Proposal Would Limit Liability of Drug Manufacturers

North Carolina is currently considering a bill that would drastically reform patients' rights within the state. One of the major components of this bill will limit the liability of drug manufacturers when their products cause unintended results. The bill would restrict the ability of patients to pursue damages if the drug in question had been approved by a governmental agency, such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA is the agency charged with screening all of the pharmaceutical drugs that are proscribed for use within the U.S. Michigan is the only other state with a similar rule in place.
